What is pnm?

A PNM file is a bitmap image file that has been designed in a Portable Any Map format in order to handle multiple monochrome, grayscale and colour images. It can also include raster data in the related PBM, PGM and PPM formats. A PNM file does not store multiple images and doesn’t use compression.
