What is 3g2?
The 3G2 file type is a multimedia file, which is primarily associated with ‘3GPP2’. The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) and 3rd Generation Partnership Project 2 (3GPP2) are considered the new standards for the creation, playback and delivery of multimedia over high-speed wireless networks (third generation). 3GPP and 3GPP2 seek to provide an uniform delivery of rich multimedia to the latest multimedia-enabled wireless devices. Both 3GPP and 3GPP2 are based on the MPEG-4 standard by Apple’s QuickTime.
What is wma?
The WMA file format stands for ‘Windows Media Audio’. Microsoft developed this format to compete against the rapidly growing more popular mp3 format. WMA is intended primarily for streaming at low bandwidths. A big difference with other formats such as MP3 and OGG is the potential use of DRM. DRM is a controversial technique that limits the possibilities for users to copy, edit, and open etc. the file due to copyrights. Mime type: audio/x-ms-wma, video/x-ms-asf.
