What is swf?

The SWF (pronounced “Swiff”) file format is a Shockwave Flash Movie used by Adobe Flash. It is used to show text, (vector) graphics, sound, browser-based games or interactive content ( written in the ActionScript language ) on the web. To be able to view this file on the web the user will need a web browser that has the Flash plugin installed. The SWF isn’t meant for editing only for playing or viewing because its the compiled version of the media. What is gvi?

A GVI file, short for Google Video, is a video format used by the video player developed by Google. It is similar to an AVI file and is encoded in DIVX4 with a MP3 compressed audio track. The Google Video Player is no longer available as it has been discontinued in 2007 by Google.
