The MKV extension, short for Mastroska Video, is a video stream file created by Matroska Association. The Matroska Association created multiple multimedia container formats from a project called MCF. The MKV extension is related to the MKA extension, but differs in a way that it can contain both audio, video and subtitle tracks, whereas MKA only streams audio.
