WTV is a Recorded Television file and is mainly used with the Windows Media Center in the Windows XP operating system. The Windows Media center edition sometimes abbreviated as Windows MCE, was a 32-bit operating system from Microsoft, designed for HTPC (Home Theater PC), computers designed primarily for multimedia use. It was only sold to OEMs, not to end customers. Microsoft originally introduced the DVR file format, which is similar to ASF, which had a number of enhancements. These files now use the .WTV extension.
