The M2T file extension, short for MPEG-2 Transport, is video file that is a standardized container format for audio and video data and is the common format found in Digital Video Broadcast (DVB) standards and Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) standards. It has been developed for terrestrial or satellite broadcasting, since it contains error corrections and stream synchronization features, that are useful for transmission integrity. The maximal resolution of the video is 1080i and the audio is stored in AC-3 Dolby Digital audio format or in Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) format.
