What is vid?
The VID file format is a video file that has (most likely) be renamed from another video extension like MOV or AVI. It is a generic format that could be any sort of video file. A good example of this is renaming MOV to VID so Quicktime could play MV files.

A p7 file is a XV Visual Schnauzer Thumbnail format. XV is an image manipulation software application for the X Window System.
